8 Fun Facts You Didn’t Know About ESPN

While Google is busy highlighting the fact that September 7th is the 46th Anniversary of Star Trek, what the nerds might not know is that today also marks the 33rd Anniversary of that sports network we all know and love, Entertainment and Sports Programming Network (ESPN). The network’s popularity is to the point that it rivals sports itself; often the people who watch it are more fans than viewers, fighting over which announcers they like and hate the most. For the record, we hate Steven A. Smith just a little bit more than Skip. But how did a company that started with oil money become the largest sports network in the entire country?
