I’m not going to even mention the fact that the United States Men’s Team didn’t qualify for the Olympics in this post because Team USA completed an impressive feat last night. For the first time in 75 years, the United States beat the Mexico men’s team in Estadio Azteca. Located 7,200 feet above sea level, the Mexican colosseum has given visitors a whole host of problems, not the least of which have been the batteries and bags of human waste that are regularly thrown at the opposing team. Literally cups of sh*t. And my boss wonders why I routed against the Mexicans in the Olympic Finals.
The next time that the United States is… unknown to me right now. There’s a high likelihood that we’ll have to play there again next year in a World Cup qualifier. For now, we’ll celebrate with what we’ve got. Just look at how excited these guys are. You can’t tell them that friendlies don’t matter.
