Donna Summer, RIP: Queen of Disco, Godmother of Techno [VIDEO]

It’s a shock to lose Donna Summer right after the death of soul man Chuck Brown. They were both incredibly influential icons of dance music. Don’t dismiss Donna as a mere disco queen, though. A lot of important musicians discovered the sound of the future thanks to her work with producer Giorgio Moroder. He had the vision, but Donna was the voice of an exciting new sound–and it got even more exciting when she simulated orgasms throughout the 1975 hit “Love to Love You Baby.” You can count over 20 different climaxes during the original 17-minute extended dance track.
