Brian De Palma used to be one of Hollywood’s hottest directors. He’s best known for 1983’s Scarface, but De Palma really established himself as the modern Alfred Hitchcock back in the ’70s. (It helped that director Hitchcock–originally billed as the Master of Suspense–made his last film in 1976.) De Palma had hits with The Fury, Dressed to Kill, Blow Out, The Untouchables, and more. He also pushed the boundaries of the multiplexes with 1984’s Body Double, which was set in the world of porn. Then he began to get really awful at the end of the ’90s. He couldn’t even make a decent film out of Rebecca Romijn being a bisexual criminal in 2002’s Femme Fatale.
Now he’s desperate for a comeback, and he’s giving lesbians another shot. The pic above is the first official photo from his upcoming Passion, and you can see Rachel McAdams and Noomi Rapace are getting down to business in this corporate thriller. This doesn’t make De Palma a genius, but at least he’s not trying to get all artsy. And he can sure shoot a lesbian scene. Check out Rebecca Romijn making out with Rie Rasmussen in Femme Fatale. No wonder he was baffled when this one bombed at the box office:
