I know that I’m a few hours late on posting the COD: Black Ops 2 reveal trailer, but I had important things to do (like watch some other videos). The good news is that being late to the game means that I’ve been able to go through the trailer with a fine-toothed comb. And yes, I’ve found something you might want to check out. It’s called the X-47 Pegasus and it’s something that actually exists in real life as well in the new game.
First a little bit about how the game is going to work out. According to The Guardian, COD: Black Ops 2 revolves around a Cold War between the United States and China. To prepare for an actual war, the United States has invested heavily in a drone army (this is 2025, after all). A third-party, led by a mysterious enemy known as Menendez, has hacked into the Army’s defense network and turned the drones against the United States. That’s where you come in. As the human David Mason (son of Alex Mason), it’s your job to try to defend your country.
While a majority of the game will revolve around you actually fighting technology, you’re going to need a little something something to fight the drones. Enter the X-47 Pegasus. Currently in production by the warfare tech company Northrop-Grumman, the X-47B is their attempt at creating a carrier-based drone. IRL, the estimated cost of the project has reached $813 million. Apparently this will be a good investment — according to the screenshot we took, the X-47 Pegasus is going to be helping you do a little dirty work.
Treyarch has confirmed that there will be something similar to the Zombies mode, but we’re really hoping we don’t have to fight mechs. Blowing up old people is just so much more fun. Check out the trailer below.
