Beach Soccer Worldwide (BSWW) was founded in 1992 right when other alternative sports like roller hockey were trying to gain traction. Unlike other fad leagues, BSWW flourished and now has tournaments around the world, mainly in Europe. They created a partnership with FIFA in 2005 to jointly manage the tournament as the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup. The last one was held in 2011 with the Russians taking the crown. The next one will take place in 2013 in Italy. The players must be just as heated as regular soccer if not more, due to all the sand getting kicked in the face. Luckily, these cheerleaders can take the edge off.
