AXE College Football Bucket List Week 4: USC vs ASU [PHOTOS, VIDEOS]
It’s been confirmed. Arizona State University really is one of the best party schools in America. We spent the weekend in balmy Tempe with Quinn for the ASU v. USC game. Leading up to the game, Quinn the AXE mannequin, met some very cool people at the tailgate, saw ASU beat USC for the first time in a decade and crossed off more incredible AXE Ultimate College Football Bucket List items including:
Task: Drive an RV
Going to a game in an RV is a rite of passage for anyone who calls themselves a football fan. In week two, we drove out to Ann Arbor in an RV for the Michigan game. Quinn was a passenger that time, but this weekend he graduated and learned to drive an RV. These things can be imposing monsters on the road, but luckily Quinn used the “Pit Pit Chest” method to stay fresh under pressure.
Task: Meet the Famous Tempe12 Ladies
Tempe12 sums up everything there is it love about college football, hot girls and tailgating. We know Quinn is loved by the ladies so it only makes sense that he spent the afternoon with Tempe’s finest.
Task: Crash a Frat Party
We found a great parking spot and set up our tailgating spot outside the Sigma Nu house. These bros are living the life in Tempe. They’ve got a pool and prime real estate only two blocks from the stadium. Mike, the president of Sigma Nu, rounded up his brothers for this picture and invited Quinn to stop by their Techno Tailgate party later in the day, which just happened to be one of our prime ASU bucket list items. More to come on that.
Task: Get Food From an Opposing Team
After hanging at the frat we worked up a solid appetite. One of the great things about college football is how it brings everyone together. We didn’t have to look far to find USC fans throwing a tailgate party. In fact, they were parked directly next door and were more than willing to feed Quinn.
Task: Tailgate Games: Master Lasso Golf
Quinn is a master of traditional tailgate games so when we saw the Lasso Golf set up, you may have heard it called Donkey Balls once or twice, set up outside the Tempe12 tailgate he had to jump in.
Task: Techno Tailgate
This is a crowdsourced tailgate tradition we learned about from a handful of fans. We were invited to the Techno Tailgate by the brothers of Sigma Nu who rock this before every home game. It’s becoming wildly popular, taking over Lot 59 of Sun Devils Stadium. This party is the place to be, so we fully expect this to spread to other campuses next year.
Task: Hold an ASU Trident
A trident is a must have accessory for all ASU Sun Devil fans and they are not difficult to spot during the pre-game tailgate. Quinn obviously got in on the action.
Task: Walk Through a Stadium Tunnel
This bucket list item is a dream for anyone who saw Rudy as a kid. It’s difficult to accomplish unless you are 6’3”, 250 pounds and run a 4.3 40. Quinn’s got the hookup though and was lucky enough to walk through the tunnel at Sun Devil Stadium.
Task: Get On Field
The best way to experience a football game is to be right in the mix of the action on the sideline. During the afternoon of tailgating, we quickly realized Quinn is a campus celebrity and that was confirmed when ASU welcomed him on to the field.
Task: Hang with the Team Mascot
While on the field, Quinn flirted with the cheerleaders and caught up with Sparky the official ASU Sun Devil.
Task: Ring The Victory Bell
The Victory Bell outside Sun Devils Stadium is rung after every home win. Leading up to this weekend, ASU hadn’t rung the bell against USC in more than a decade. We picked a great game to witness and Quinn had the chance to ring the bell in celebration after the Sun Devil’s 43-22 win over the Trojans in Tempe.
Stay tuned as we’re off to Wisconsin for a battle of the top 10′s as the Badger’s showdown with Nebraska. Keep following @COEDMagazine and @AXE on Twitter to hear about where we go next – #ForTheQuinn.
