The Sexy Ladies of Sucker Punch

‘You will be Unprepared’ for all the hotness packed into Sucker Punch when it hits screens Friday in wide release. This is the latest film both written and directed by Zack Snyder (Watchmen, 300, Dawn of the Dead) as well as his first original screenplay. Love him or hate him, Zack knows how to direct some awesome action sequences. And with a cast of major babes, what more could you ask for? Take a look at what Sucker Punch has to offer in the way of femme fatales. If these sexy warriors won’t get your butt in the cinema, nothing will.

Emily Browning as Babydoll

This saucy Aussie has quite a list of credits for a 22-year-old. Starting her career early in television, Browning went on to star in such dark movies as Ghost Ship and Darkness Falls. It wasn’t until Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events that she landed a starring role which started turning heads. She was even considered for the role of Bella in Twilight, but turned it down for The Uninvited. Where is that sexy Australian accent? It seems that Brits and Aussies are quite good at masking their voices. Emily credits Sesame Street for her accent bending. Way to go, Jim Henson, even though I’m pretty sure that wasn’t your intention for the show.

Abbie Cornish as Sweet Pea

Talk about a prodigy. Abbie has been modeling since she was 13 and learned to drive a year prior. Since then, she worked her way up through TV to more dramatic theatrical roles such as Somersault, Candy, Bright Star and Elizabeth: The Golden Age. Sucker Punch will be her first role where she is actually kicking major ass (and possibly showing some).

Jena Malone as Rocket

All signs point to Jena being the biggest up-and-comer of all these girls. How bad-ass do you have have to be to turn down a role in a Harrison Ford movie at the age of 13. One year prior to that, she won the SAG award. And at 15, she emancipated herself and took full control of her career. She has starred in several movies including Donnie Darko, Saved, and The Dangerous Life of Altar Boys. This is an actress who has kicked butt through her entire career so much that she ousted Evan Rachael Wood for Sucker Punch, despite Jena being much older than her. If there is one girl to keep an eye on after Sucker Punch, it would have to be Jena.

Vanessa Hudgens as Blondie

A Disney Channel actress? Well, Shia LeBouf came out alright. Vanessa’s most memorable role, and a role we hope won’t brand her for life, was that of Gabriella in the High School Musical trilogy. Trying to desperately to escape the over-sized gloved hands of Disney, 2011 will be Vanessa’s break out year having just starred in Beastly and later this year in Journey 2. Will she make her mark in Sucker Punch as a sexy femme fatale? Here’s to hoping.

Jamie Chung as Amber

This former Real World cast member is an Asian goddess who’s no stranger to action-heavy roles. Working up from bit-roles on TV, Jamie made a name for herself with her starring role on TV as Samurai Girl. Most will probably recognize her as the teenage love interest, Chi Chi, in the 2008 flop, Dragonball Evolution. Despite that, we’ve seen that Jamie Chung can physically act and can handle herself in fight scenes. Of all the girls kicking butt in Sucker Punch, Jamie is the one we’ll be expecting the most from.

Carla Gugino as Madam Gorski

Though she is the oldest “girl” on the list, Carla has quite a reputation with a body to boot. A straight-A student and a valedictorian, Carla has had a long career as both a model and an actress. Her brains certainly show as she turned down a role in The Pacifier to become one of the sexy sluts of Sin City. You might recognize her as Amanda from Entourage or Abby from Californication. She also plays a porn star in Elektra Luxx, but we can’t get enough of her in that tight sueprhero costume playing Silk Specter I from Watchmen.
