It’s baaaaaaaaack! In collaboration with world renowned DJ’s such as Tiesto, DJ Qbert, Deadmau5, and David Guetta. DJ Hero 2 is here, and we’re happy to report it’s better than ever. This time with more than 100 songs mixed into 80 fresh tracks for your listening, cross-fading, and scratchin’ pleasure. Reeeeguuulaaatoooors… Mount up!

Publisher: Activision, Platform: PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii, Released: 10/19/10

Everything that we loved about the original DJ Hero is back, and some fun improvements have been made to freestyle scratching and cross fading. During the freestyle cross-fading sections you are encouraged to switch back and forth between the two separate tracks that make up the mix and put your own flavor on the mix. It’s actually very fun! Freestyle scratching isn’t quite what we hoped it would be. You can basically scratch slow, or fast… There isn’t much in between, but the tutorial encourages you to mix up your scratchin’ technique for maximum points and to raise your “freestyle” grade. At the end of every set list you are graded on your freestyle abilities.

Key Features:

  • Party Play Mode – Turn DJ Hero 2 into the ultimate party accessory. Let the game’s incredible mixes play themselves and or jump in/jump out to take control and play along without ever stopping the music.
  • New Sound Track – DJ Hero 2 one-ups its predecessor and mixes even hotter tracks from the biggest artists in pop, dance and hip hop including: Lady Gaga, Deadmau5, Kanye West, Chemical Brothers, Dr. Dre, Rihanna and more.
  • Empire Career Mode - Unlock new perks and rewards at each step of your career.
  • Multiplayer Modes - All-new multiplayer modes redefine the DJ Hero experience. Innovative DJ Battles feature custom mixes and authentic back-and-forth DJ gameplay. All new modes including Accumulator, Checkpoints and Streakers let you prove who is the best DJ in the house.

Pros:

  • Player customization in “empire” mode
  • Amazing song list with excellent mega mixes
  • Fun DJ “boss” battles
  • Intuitive controls
  • Avatar support (Xbox 360 only)

Cons:

  • Career “empire” mode is bland with no real story to speak of
  • The turntable feels a cheap (plastic, on top of plastic, and more plastic)

Overall:

We give DJ Hero 2 an 9 out of 10. The replay value of this game is off the charts. Honestly, this is the perfect party game and it has us anxiously waiting on DJ Hero 3!

Price: $59.99 (game only) or  $99.99 (game + turntable)
