The long rumored Playstation Phone has finally surfaced! Prototype pictures of the phone/handheld gaming system have been leaked to the internet by Engadget.com one of the world’s largest and most trusted tech blogs. While there is still much speculation to the truth of these latest rumors, many experts say that this is the real deal! Likely to be released in sometime in 2011, it’s  reported that the Playstation Phone will likely be operating on Google’s yet to be released Android 3.0 “Gingerbread” platform and is said to feature a Sony Market Place for purchasing games, music, and videos.

Rumored Specs:

  • Screen Size: 3.7 – 4.1 inches
  • Trackpad
  • 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8655 processor
  • 512MB of RAM
  • 1GB of ROM
  • MicroSD slot
  • Multitouch capability

This is a no-brainer if you ask me. Why not bring high-end gaming to cell phones? The technology is here, it’s just the implementation and cost to produce it at this point. While Sony is yet to give an official response directly acknowledging the prototype photos, their cell phone division Sony Ericsson says – “Sony Ericsson does not comment on rumor or speculation.” Hmmm, what do you think, real or fake?
