This weekend basketball fans from around the country will descend on Indianapolis for the March Madness Final Four. While basketball is the reason for the trip it would make no sense to stay in your hotel room between games when there is a perfectly good city at your disposal to get wasted and hook up in. After all, what is better than drunken, vacation sex?
Lucky for you COED has their own intrepid reporter in the Indianapolis area doing the dirty work and scouting out the best places to get drunk, hook up, and rub whatever you want to rub with locals and visitors alike. It was a hard task, but someone had to do it!
You will want to either stick close to the games downtown or venture out to Broad Ripple, a district of bars and clubs popular with the 20-something crowd you are looking for. There are many bars in both areas, but the following are some that the research staff found especially inviting (plus we hooked up in most of them).
To Get Loaded Go To:
Downtown: Bourbon Street Distillery
Not a bad place to get your drink on before heading out to other more female populated establishments. With $1 Miller Lite and Coors Lite drafts, $3 top-shelf rum, gin, whiskey and vodka it does not matter what you drink, this place will have a special for you. You will not go here for the women, but you will want to go here to get your drink on.
Broad Ripple: Brothers Bar and Grill
This spacious bar on Broad Ripple Ave has great gator balls to go along with some awesome drink specials. A change of pace compared to the dance clubs common in the Broad Ripple area, this bar often boasts such specials as $1 well drinks, $2 Long Island Ice Teas, and $3.50 domestic pitchers. Not a bad place to meet the fairer sex, but a great place to get loaded before hitting some of the other bars on the Broad Ripple strip.
For Booze and Babes Go To:
Downtown: Have a Nice Day Café
Go here early to take advantage of the drink specials they like to have. People do not tend to start coming so arrive early enough and you can get your drink on and watch all the honeys as they start doing their thing on the dance floor. If you are wondering which one you want to hook up with look to the cages and whoever is gyrating in there; even if she is not hot, you know she’s open to something else. On vacation, any girl you ‘get friendly’ with is hot.
Broad Ripple: The Vogue
This place has almost everything you could want in a drinking establishment. On weekends there is often live music. There are usually beer and drink specials most nights, and the dance floor is often teeming with babes bumping and grinding. If you are only going to hit one place in Broad Ripple, this would not be a bad one to pick. The cover is moderately priced too so give this one a try.
Looking For Beer? Go To:
Lovers of good beer will like to visit the Rathskeller at some point during their trip. This establishment will need a taxi ride from the game, but the food, beer, and view will be worth it. The large bier garden is a popular meeting place for the 20 something crowd that likes to do just what you are looking for- drink and be merry (or is it do Mary?)
Broad Ripple: Chumley’s
For a variety of beers this is one of the best places you can go. With over 50 beers on tap the connoisseur will be happy as will the guy that just likes to get drunk. One of the larger establishments in Broad Ripple, even when it is not busy there are still plenty of honeys to make you feel at home.
Want To Go High-Class? Then Try:
Downtown: Nicky Blaine’s
Walk in here and you will be money and you will not even know it. Martinis are the drink of choice and do not be surprised if you see a few cigars being smoked. If you have ever wanted to pretend you were someone’s rich nephew, these are the places to try to pull it off. Be ready to spend a few dollars to pull it off though.
Since the games are downtown, this is another establishment you may want to try within stumbling distance of most hotels and the Conseco Field house. It does not have the best drink prices, babes, or ambiance, but it is pretty darn good in all three.
Downtown: The Slippery Noodle
Getting drunk surrounded by history is kind of cool. The Noodle was once a stop for the Underground Railroad at one time as well as a watering hole that John Dillinger liked to frequent. At 160 years old, this building has seen a lot, and ghost hunters often try to find out just what it has seen. Most people have better luck finding a different sort of spirits there and at reasonable prices. The live music that this place often hosts tends to attract an eclectic crowd. Prices are good, drinks are good, as is the entertainment; if you are only going one place downtown make it The Slippery Noodle.
